Outreach Initiatives
ROCA is committed to making live choral and orchestral music performances accessible and available to as many community members as possible. We distribute numerous complimentary tickets to a variety of organizations in the lower mainland who house, work with or serve folks who might otherwise not be able to attend our events.

Rising Stars
Every season we offer a Rising Stars concert that features local youth musicians. Not only is this a wonderful opportunity for the performers, but this is a fantastic concert for all young people. We encourage school and community music groups to promote Rising Stars each year - tell your students about it, so that many children and youth can experience the magic of a live orchestral concert. If they’re not already interested in music, they might discover a new love!
In the past, Richmond Orchestra offered an Elementary School Concert Series where musicians from the orchestra performed interactive concerts for students right in their own gymnasiums. This program strived to introduce classical music to students in an accessible way. Since its inception in 2013, ROCA delivered this program to 23 schools with an estimated 8,000 students in attendance.
In 2026, ROCA is reenvisioning what outreach looks like for our organization. We regularly work with local university music students - giving them valuable ensemble experience and helping us fill seats when needed.
We are excited about future possibilities. Stay tuned as developments are announced and implemented.
Tix 4 Schools
Tix 4 Schools is an initiative designed to introduce elementary and high school students to the sights and sounds of a live orchestra and chorus by giving 30 complimentary tickets to schools in Metro Vancouver.
Guidelines
- The school must be located in the Vancouver Lower Mainland.
- There is a limit of one school per concert. Availability is on a first come, first served basis.
- A list of students' names must be forwarded to our office before the concert.
- Tickets are limited to two tickets per student (one for the student, one for a guardian) and will be available at the door on the day of the concert.
Please note that the Richmond Orchestra and Chorus does not provide supervision of students attending our concerts. All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
