About the Concert
The orchestra will showcase the winners of the Richmond Music Festival’s Concerto Challenge, a chance to see tomorrow’s stars playing a thrilling mix of virtuosic repertoire. This year features:
Charles Wang: Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, 1st movement
Caleb Chiu: Lalo Symphonie Espagnole, 1st movement (violin)
Megan Cheng: Tchaikovsky Variations on a Rococo Theme (cello)
Zixu Qin: Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major, 3rd movement
The concert will be rounded out with the first movement of Schubert’s Symphony 8 (the “Unfinished”) and the world premiere of Bruno Cavalca’s “Dissolution”!
