The Richmond Orchestra & Chorus Association Presents The Young Orchestra Mentorship Program (YOMP)!

Interested in classical music?  Love the idea of playing in an orchestra?  Want to stretch your musical chops? If you’ve ever wanted to make music on a large scale, then YOMP is the scholarship program for you!  

We want you to join the Young Orchestra Mentorship Program (YOMP) as a scholarship applicant and experience a music-making adventure in your musical career!  Audition with us, and at the end of six weeks, join us for a performance of a large-scale orchestral work.  We hope that through YOMP, we will introduce you to some wonderful community members in our orchestra, inspire you to continue with your artistic endeavors, and enrich your musical potential.

Interested students and schools can request more information by emailing YOMP at  To apply for the program, please complete the online application form.  Deadline for YOMP scholarship applicants is February 25, 2017.  We hope to see you in our orchestra!


For YOMP 2017, we are currently auditioning for the following instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Oboe, French Horn.

Students are eligible for this project under the following requirements:

1)  Must be currently enrolled in a high school within the Lower Mainland.
2) All interested students must have a form of music experience in order to audition for placement.
